Dehradun - A visit

The capital of Uttranchal and one of the oldest cities of India, Dehradun holds historic importance as an imperative province for Garhwal rulers. This famous hilly terrain is also known as home of Drona, the guru of Kauravas. Located in the lap of Himalayan region, this pretty and elegant city is known for its sprawling gardens, parks, well-known temples and luxuriant landscapes.

Sahastradhara
A lovely and awe-inspiring waterfall in the heart dun valley, this has an approximate depth of 9 meters. Apart from its scenic beauty, the waterfall is also known for its therapeutic value. This astonishing natural splendor is situated amidst the city limits and a stunning tourist spot.

Robber's Cave
This magnificent tourist attraction is situated within the sub-urban limits of Dehradun and is popularly known as Guchhipani or Guchu Pani. Surrounded with majestic hilly terrain, the caves offer an amazingly unique scenario of Mother Nature.

Malsi Deer Park
This mini zoological park is situated at the base of splendid Shivalik range and is one of the fast emerging tourist attractions of Dehradun. This is an ideal place for picnic and excursion in the presence of lush green surroundings and natural environment. 


Places for Worship

Sai Darbar Temple
This temple is the jewel in the crown of country’s secular face and makes one feel secular at its pinnacle. This is an ideal shrine for people who believe in god irrespective of their caste and creed and show their gratitude towards god almighty.

Tapkeshwar
Devoted to Lord Shiva, this cave temple is renowned for its great structural design. Situated at the banks of stream, this temple is one of the busiest pilgrimages in the hilly resort.

Mindrolling Monastery
This monastery is dedicated to study Buddhist scriptures and several other fields of academic interest including Tibetan lunar calendar, astronomy, Traditional Tibetan medicine and calligraphy. It is considered as a well-known viharas in India that displays excellent architectural phenomenon. Additionally, the monastery has been witnessing several attacks and natural calamities and the present architectural structure is the contribution of Khochhen Rinpoche.


Shopping

Mall Road and Paltan Bazaar
Although dun valley will not add to the modern culture of shopping malls, but it surely offers wonderful time for shopping with several small and big bazaars including one on the Mall road and Paltan Bazaar. One has to wander across the city to get qualitative articles at competitive range.

Nainital- Lake City of Uttarakhand


Nainital known as the Lake District in India is situated in the Kamaon region of Himalayan mountain range and is a real treasure for those who love to visit hill spots. Places for Worship

Aurobindo Ashram
Just a kilometer away from the market of Nainital, it is located warmly in the middle of Kumaon region nearby Nainital. One can arrange a stay in the ashram with a prior notice and permission so as to discover the art of perseverance.

Naina Devi temple
The temple is devoted to goddess Sati and is accompanied with Lord Ganesha and Mata Kali. The legend has it that the two netras or eyes of Goddess Sati fell on this part of land.

St John’s Church in the Wilderness
Built in the year 1844, this church is situated on the northern end of Nainital near by the Naina devi temple. Also, it is the memorial of sufferers of 1880 landslide with the names engraved on a brass plaque in the church premises.

Mall Road
The road is alongside the lake and is reckoned as Govind Ballabh Pant Marg. This is a usually a busy market with number of shops, restaurants, motels, banks, offices and all that one can think about.
